A rechargeable garden camera for regular app checks where home Wi-Fi reaches the route. It is better suited to a connected position near the house than to a distant trail-camera deployment.
Why the workflow is different
WildCam 3 joins the home network rather than creating only a nearby hotspot. NatureSpy says it continues saving clips during a temporary loss of Wi-Fi and periodically searches for reconnection. That makes it useful for a route you want to monitor often without collecting the card.
Useful hardware choices
The listing specifies 2560 × 1440 video, a 4MP sensor, a replaceable 5200mAh battery, USB-C charging, 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, a supplied 32GB card and support up to 128GB. An optional solar panel is available.
Night and route placement
NatureSpy lists low-glow infrared and a colour night mode. Low-glow can show a faint red light. For hedgehogs, use a rigid low mount and aim across the path rather than straight along it; then review framing at the closest crossing point.
Who should skip it
Look elsewhere if the route has weak home Wi-Fi, you need invisible no-glow illumination or you want a camera designed for long unattended periods beyond the router. For local-only use, Helarctos is the simpler alternative.
Use the hedgehog guide for low-route placement or the general wildlife comparison for connection choice.
